Chance McCormick was granted a Deferred judgment on June 11, 2012 as a sentence for a Burglary in the Third degree plea he entered in April 2012. As a condition of his probation he must seek and maintain full-time employment, obtain his GED, obtain a substance abuse evaluation and, make restitution to the victim.
On June 11, 2012, Gregory Harris was given 60 days contempt of Court by the Polk County District court for a probation violation. He will remain in the Polk County Jail until space becomes available at the Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility where he will reside as a further condition of his probation. Harris is on probation for Arson in the Second degree and Theft in the Third degree.
On Monday, June 11, Jason Papiani was sentenced to 10 years in Prison after pleading guilty to Theft in the First Degree in March of 2012. He also received a 1 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence – first offense. Both prison sentences are to run concurrently to each other and concurrently to a prison sentence he is currently serving out of Story County.
On Monday, June 11, Kimberly Champagne-Hernandez pled guilty in Polk County District Court to Forgery, a class D felony in FECR 254221 and an amended charge of Theft in the Third Degree in FE 254698. She will be sentenced in Polk County on July 23, 2012, and faces up to 7 years in prison or probation. Her bond was changed so that she was released from the Polk County Jail on her Own Recognizance pending sentencing.

On May 1, 2012, Defendant Marquis Esclovon pled guilty to the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, to wit: marijuana, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(1)(d), a Class D Felony. On June 12, 2012, Defendant Marquis Esclovon was sentenced to a period of incarceration not to exceed five years for the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, to wit: marijuana. The sentence was suspended and the Defendant was granted two years probation. Marquis Esclovon was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On May 1, 2012, Defendant Derek Alshouse pled guilty to the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, to wit: hydrocodone, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(1)(c)(8), a Class C Felony. On June 12, 2012, Defendant Derek Alshouse was sentenced to a period of incarceration not to exceed ten years for the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, to wit: hydrocodone. The sentence was suspended and the Defendant was granted two years probation. Derek Alshouse was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.

Natasha Moore – FECR256034 – This defendant was arraigned on the charges of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Class D Felony, and Domestic Abuse Assault With a Dangerous Weapon, Aggravated Misdemeanor. To both charges the defendant entered a plea of Not Guilty and a Pre-trial Conference was set for July 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., in room 204. Trial was set for August 13, 2012.
State of Iowa v. Phillip Haislip – FECR256370 – This defendant was arraigned on the charge of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Class D Felony, and entered a plea of Not Guilty. A Pre-trial Conference was set for July 12, 2012, at 1:45 p.m., room 204 and Trial was set for August 13, 2012.

Joshual Camp – FECR254735 – This defendant was arraigned on the charges of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance: marijuana, Class D Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver: marijuana, Class D Felony, Failure to Possess a Tax Stamp, Class D Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver: oxycodone, Class C Felony, Failure to Possess a Tax Stamp, Class D Felony, and Neglect of a Dependant Person, Class C Felony. To all these charges the defendant entered a plea of Not Guilty. A Pre-trial Conference was set for July 12, 2012, at 1:45 p.m., in room 207, and Trial was set for August 13, 2012.

Jared McConnell – FECR256061 – This defendant was arraigned on the charges of Serious Injury by Vehicle, Class D Felony, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Serious Misdemeanor, and entered a plea of Not Guilty to both charges. A Pre-trial Conference was set for July 12, 2012, at 2:15 p.m., in room 204, and Trial was set for August 13, 2012.
State of Iowa v. Shawn Carlson – FECR254581 – This defendant was arraigned on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Third or Subsequent Offense and entered a plea of Not Guilty. A Pre-trial Conference was scheduled for May 31, 2012, at 2:45 p.m., in room 207. Trial was set for June 27, 2012.
State of Iowa v. Annie Papiani – FECR255111 – This defendant was arraigned on the charge of Theft in the Second Degree, Class D Felony, and entered a plea of Not Guilty. A Pre-trial Conference was set for July 12, 2012, at 2:30 p.m., room 204 and Trial was set for August 13, 2012.
State of Iowa v. Kari Rueber – FECR238910 – This defendant appeared for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to Fraudulent Practices in the Second Degree, on May 2, 2012. The defendant received a five (5) year suspended prison sentence and was placed on two years of probation to be supervised by the Fifth Judicial District Department of Corrections. The defendant was ordered to complete 140 hours of Community Service and comply with any other terms and conditions as required by the probation department.

On June 15, 2012, Jami Andrus was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR254676 for a period not to exceed 10 years for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine). The defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Savanna Wentland appeared for a probation violation hearing on Polk County criminal cases FECR240152 and SRCR241242. The hearing was continued two weeks so she could be considered for admission into the drug court program.
Timothy Fechner appeared for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to Forgery in Polk County criminal case number FECR253094. The Court deferred judgment and placed the defendant on probation for two years.

Jonathan Rickabaugh appeared for a probation violation hearing on Polk County criminal case number FECR248188. He stipulated that he did violate terms and conditions of his probation and the Court scheduled a disposition hearing for June 29, 2012.
Ralph Reynolds Jr. appeared for a probation violation hearing on Polk County criminal case number FECR239511. His hearing was rescheduled for June 22, 2012 so he could have a substance abuse evaluation.
Andrew Vriezela appeared for a probation violation hearing on Polk County criminal case number FECR242026. The defendant contested the allegations and an evidentiary hearing was scheduled.
