Real Estate Management
The Polk County Treasurer holds a delinquent tax sale each year. Tax Certificates
of properties not sold at the auction are sent to the Division of Development Services
to be acquired. Polk County owned Tax Deed parcels are maintained and disposed of
according to legal requirements and local policy. The Division disposes of the property
through written proposal that meet fair market value.
If a property has structure staff will determine if it can be rehabilitated. If
it can, local non profit agencies are requested to submit proposals to complete
the work and reuse the property for low income families. If the structure cannot
be feasibly rehabilitated it will be demolished and the property sold according
